Cultural Awareness
The Ngadju Native Title Aboriginal Corporation (NNTAC) is committed to fostering a deeper appreciation and respect for Ngadju culture through education, awareness, and recognition of Ngadju people. The Ngadju Cultural Awareness Training has been developed to enhance understanding of Ngadju history, Country, and heritage, and to support cross-cultural collaboration and culturally informed engagement.
The goal of Ngadju Cultural Awareness is to equip participants with the knowledge and tools needed for culturally respectful interactions with Ngadju people. Like all cultures, Ngadju culture includes unique customs, values, and protocols that must be understood and honoured in order to building equitable and enduring partnerships with the Ngadju community.
Welcome to Country
Respect and acknowledgment are essential to good working relationships with Ngadju community and should be a priority. For example, discussing when and how to use Traditional Welcomes and Acknowledging Traditional Owners will show that you are respectful of Ngadju people’s connection to the land.
This demonstration of your respect will make it easier to set up mutual standards of respect and trust and will make it easier for consultation and negotiations to take place effectively.
NNTAC encourages all Proponents, Government agencies, community organisations, and other stakeholders operating on Ngadju Country to facilitate Ngadju Cultural Awareness Training as doing so strengthens the foundation for mutual trust, collaboration, and meaningful dialogue.
